When a potter sits down at the wheel to make some pots, the first thing is to center the clay. Sometimes the whole ball, sometimes just the top to “throw off the hump”. Next is a cylinder. Everything starts with a cylinder. I like cylinders. Short and wide, small and large, tall and narrow. Put a little lip on the top. Sometimes close the top and cut the lid off later. Call it a bowl, vase, pet dish, dog bowl, pencil holder, remote holder --- whatever. Sometimes it's just an MPCC. MPCCs can be found under almost any category at Harbor Pottery.
