When a potter sits down at the wheel to make some pots, the first thing is to center the clay. Sometimes the whole ball, sometimes just the top to “throw off the hump”.
Next is a cylinder. Everything starts with a cylinder. I like cylinders. Short and wide, small and large, tall and narrow. Put a little lip on the top. Sometimes close the top and cut the lid off later.
Call it a bowl, vase, pet dish, dog bowl, pencil holder, remote holder --- whatever.
Sometimes it's just an MPCC. MPCCs can be found under almost any category at Harbor Pottery.

Some of the MPCCs at Harbor Pottery are designed for a specific category of Crap, but they really can be used for anything that will fit. The Pencil Holder is one example of this. It works well as a Collector for pencils, pens, and markers, but also will hold scissors quite well.

The reason nobody likes to straighten up things is you have to know where to put stuff. If the place is messy and you don’t want to straighten it up, it’s because you don’t know where to put all that crap. That’s how it got messy in the first place. That’s where Crap Collectors come in. If you pick something up and you don’t know where it goes – put it in a Crap Collector. If it’s too big, get a bigger Crap Collector. If you have several Crap Collectors strategically placed, your environment will slowly become more organized. The world will become a softer, gentler place to be.
